Jan

Jan Zweegman has over 30 years experience in the start up, turnaround and running of companies in both the telecommunication, Cable Television companies (the integration of both) and the railroad industry.
Currently he is associated to several investment funds and is advisor to companies in the (telecommunication and railroad) industry and is initiator of several start-up companies.
Between 2014 and 2018 Jan was involved in the railroad industry with “De Nederlandse Spoorwegen”. He was director Business Market a.i. for several years and was strategic advisor on distribution strategy, wholesale and (new) third parties.
Until 2013 Jan was CEO and COO of Caiway. Caiway is the 3RD largest cable operator in the Netherlands. Jan introduced successfully a launch of services on an optical fiber network alongside the operations on a coaxial network as one of the firs cable operators in the world.
From 2005 until 2010 Jan was a member of the board of UPC Netherlands and was responsible for Customer Services and CEO of Priority Telecom. UPC NL Transformed in this period from a “bankrupted” company into a well respected and commercially excellent run company. UPC NL played the strongest role in the rise of the cable industry in the Netherlands.
Until 2005 (from 1998) He was a member of the board of KPN Mobile the Netherlands and held several positions. Amongst others Jan was responsible for Customer Services and Wholesale. This was the period of the international expansion (Belgium (Base)) and Germany (E plus)) and the acquisition of several concessions (UMTS). In this period Jan was responsible for the introduction of the first MVNO's in the Netherlands (Albert Heijn Mobile, Yes Telecom, Hema a.o.).
Jan lived in Hungary from 1990 until 1998. He set up the Representative office for KPN in Budapest and was heavily involved in the acquisition of the first international GSM Concession which was awarded to Pannon GSM (currently Telenor). Jan was for a long period a member of the board of Pannon GSM which was a clear Greenfield operation in a very young market. A market which was heavily under transformation due to the political turnaround.
Before Jan moved to Hungary he held several function within the daily operations of KPN and was a teacher in general Economics.
